Bongo, a large antelope of Africa. The bongo has a reddish-brown coat with narrow white stripes. The pattern of the stripes looks something like a harness. The male is about four feet (1.2 m) tall at the shoulders. Both male and female bear horns that curve gracefully backward, spiraling slightly. The horns may reach a length of more than 33 inches (84 cm).
The common bongo is Boocercus euryceros of the cattle family, Bovidae.
