Kudu, or Koodoo, an African antelope. The greater kudu, one of the largest and most impressive of all antelopes, is known as the antelope king. A mature male is about five feet (1.5m) high at the shoulder. Its spiraled horns may reach five feet in length. The female is hornless. The greater kudu is found in bush country from Ethiopia to South Africa. The lesser kudu, which grows to 3 feet (1.1 m) high at the shoulder, inhabits bush country in east Africa.

The greater kudu is Strepsiceros strepsiceros; lesser, S. imberbis. Kudu belong to the subfamily Antilopinae of the family Bovidae.
