Bird Spotting: Also known as the rock pigeon, this is the pigeon seen in just about every city or town. Although colors can vary, ranging from white, rust or black, typically these birds are bluish gray with two narrow back stripes cutting across the wings.

Habitat: Where there are people, the rock dove thrives. This bird can be found in city centers, city parks, tourist areas, and suburban gardens and farmlands.

Nesting: Rock doves place two white eggs in a poorly constructed nest of sticks and debris. Ledges of buildings, bridges or cliffs keep the nestlings relatively safe from predators.

Bird Bite: Attempts have been made to eradicate the rock dove as they are seen as carriers of disease. This prolific bird has been able to survive all plans for its removal.
