Serval, an African wild cat of the grasslands and brush country south of the Sahara. It has yellowish-brown fur marked with dark brown or black spots and streaks. The serval has large, pointed ears and long legs. It is about 20 inches (50 cm) in height at the shoulders and about 40 inches (1 m) long, not including the tail, which is about 16 inches (40 cm) long. The serval is a fast distance runner and a good climber. It feeds on birds and small mammals. The female usually gives birth to one to four kittens.
